Will a Hitch Block the Liftgate Sensors on a 2025 Infiniti QX60?

Updated 05/05/2025 | Published 05/01/2025

Question:

I am looking to purchase a trailer hitch for my 2025 Infiniti QX60 with an activated motion liftgate. Will the trailer hitch interfere with the use of the motion activated liftgate? Thank you

Hey Barry congrats on the new SUV! The hitches for the 2025 Infiniti QX60 like item # C46DR are going to block the range of the sensors around the center of your bumper where the 2" receiver sits. You'll need to kick to the left and right to find an area that isn't affected.

If you install the EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver item # EH35SR you can minimize this issue. This hitch has a removable receiver that can be taken off when you're not using it by loosening a bolt. The crosstube that remains is behind the sensors so you'll have full functionality when the receiver's removed.

What do you plan on using the hitch for?

Thanks Jerred! The hitch will mainly be used for a bike rack. I like the idea of the removable receiver. Barry

@BC You're welcome! Yeah that's a nice feature only a few manufacturers offer. What kind of bikes do you have?

@JerredH Hi Jerred, You must ride bikes as well. I have mountain bikes; an Intense Tracer 275 and a Specialized Kenevo e-bike. Both have worked out great for me. Barry
