Solution For 2006 Forest River 5th Wheel That Keeps Breaking Leaf Springs

Question:
I have a 2006 forest river 5th wheel toy hauler. I have broken leaf springs two different times. each side rear springs 6000 lb axle. I know Im not overloading the trailer, I have replaced all four springs. I tow this on washboard roads. what do you recommend. thanks ,Dave

Hello Dave, thanks for reaching out. Typically broken leaf springs are the result of an overloaded trailer. One thing you could try here is going with higher rated leaf springs. It could be the weight of your camper is right at the max limit for your leaf springs. So going with something a bit heavier rated may reduce your risk of breaking a spring.
I will need to know the length of your current springs to see what your options are. Jack up one side of the trailer so you can measure the leaf springs while unloaded. They are measured from center eye to center eye.
Let me know that measurement and I am happy to look into it and see if we have an option for you.
