Correct Orientation of Wet Bolts for Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit
Updated 01/31/2025 | Published 01/29/2025 >
Question:
Dexter Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit K71-653-00. The instructions say: Note the specific radial orientation of the grease holes in the illustrations. Failure to orient the grease holes as shown may restrict the free flow of lubricant and lead to excessive wear. I see nothing in the instructions indicating which way the wet bolts need to be oriented. Do they need to be pointed in a certain direction? Thanks, Frank

Hey Frank, thanks for reaching out!
What Dexter Axle means by this is that you want the grease zerk fitting from the wet bolts in the Dexter E-Z Flex Suspension Kit # K71-653-00 to face the outside of the trailer, rather than under the trailer. I see why it's a bit confusing, but if you check out the clipped photo I grabbed from the instructions you'll see what I mean.
Were you planning on doing this installation on your own, or have a shop do it?

Hi Jon, I plan on doing this myself this spring when the weather warms up. I plan on greasing the trailers wheel bearings at the same time and greasing the bearings goes a lot better in warmer temps. Cold grease does not pump as easy and some say can cause a seal to failure. Thanks, Frank
