Norm, thanks for hanging out! Along with one fitting different brands of trucks the Trail and Elite are also different. The Tow Pro Trail # RED94UR is designed to be used primarily off-road, specifically engineered and tested for off-road adventures.
The Tow-Pro Trail helps with challenging conditions like steep descents, mud, and sand, as well as providing smooth, safe braking for everyday hauling.
The Elite # RED42CR also has off-road capabilities, but I'd the Trail is going to be more what you'd need for serious off-roading.
If you have any other questions please feel free to drop a comment and let me know!

I guess I asked the wrong question; it should have been why is a Redarc Towpro Elite, with a harness for a Frontier, #Red75cr, $20 more than the same item, Red42cr, with a harness for a Tacoma? Thank you.
