Best Parts For Flat Towing 2024 Ford F-150

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/05/2025

Question:

What parts do I need to purchase to attach to my 2024 F 150 to flat tow it. I already bought the hitch from you all last year. Hopefully it will fit my F150 as I got rid of the Ranger

Hello Layne, thanks for getting in touch. So we can definitely help set your 2024 Ford F-150 up for flat towing. Sadly, the base plate from a Ford Ranger will not transfer over to an F-150, so you will need a new base plate. Here are the parts I recommend:

- etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # e86YR

- etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 10,500 lbs # e94ZR

- Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Coiled Adapter Cord # RM-15267

- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

- Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes - Proportional # SM99251

- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400

Keep in mind the charge line and brake lite relay are required. Also, you may need a drop hitch to compensate for any height differences between the base plate arms and the hitch on your RV. Any difference of more than 3 inches will require a drop hitch such as part # BLU28XR.

I linked a few install videos below for each part I mentioned. Any cool trips planned once you get all of this hooked up? Have you flat towed before? Feel free to reach out if there is anything else I can do to help.

Hey Layne, how did things go getting your F-150 ready for flat towing with the new base plate and tow bar setup? Were the wiring and brake kits a good match for your truck? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar rig.
