Does The etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit e86YR Have A Weight Rating?

Updated 10/28/2025 | Published 03/17/2025

Question:

I recently upgraded my truck from 2013 f150 xlt to 2024 F150 XLT hybrid. I had blue ox base plates. The only thing that can be used on the new truck is the blue ox 10k towbar and blue ox patriot 3 brake system. I was going to get new blue ox base plates but seen etrailers version that do not require me to drill, pull off the bumper, or sensor removal. I wanted to know what is max tow weight of Part Number: e86YR. I like to have at least 10K at my truck is around 7500 to 8000 lbs loaded. I see there are only 3 retention bolts per plate compared to blue ok has 4.

Hello Dennis, good question. The etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e86YR does not have a designated weight rating. It is rated for well over the GVWR of your truck, and then some. It will absolutely be compatible with a 10K tow bar with zero concern of overloading. The base plate would not come close to being the weak link in your setup. This would be the case for any base plate regardless of make and model. They are rated for way more than the vehicle weight.

If you plan to re use your tow bar and brake system, here are the other parts I recommend:

- etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # e86YR

- Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights - 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord # RM38FR (for vehicles with LED lights)

- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400

Hey Dennis, how did things go with the etrailer base plate kit on your new F-150 hybrid? Did it give you the confidence you were looking for with your 10K tow bar setup? Your feedback could help others upgrading to a similar truck.

@JesseM It worked like a champ. I tried to install without removing the bumper and spoiler but not possible.
