Question:

I have a 2018 Ford F150 XLT crew cab 4wd with a factory installed 5000lb hitch. I need to change from the existing hitch to a hitch with ~10,000 GTW . I ordered a DT35MR but the factory step bumper attaches to the factory hitch. Will the new one have attachment points for the bumper? I just watched the install video and they do not address the install of the factory bumper.

Hey Bryan, thanks for reaching out!

The Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT35MR was designed for 2018 Ford F-150s that don't have a factory hitch, so it doesn't have attachment points for the bumper.

What you're needing is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C26HR which is made to fit with an OEM hitch. It fits below the OEM hitch so that stays in place and supports the bumper.

You might still be able to get the Draw-Tite to work, but you'd probably have to modify something to get it to fit with the bumper.

Let me know if you end up wanting to return the Draw-Tite hitch and I can send in a note to our customer service team and have them reach out to you about that.

I will need to get the return started please. The Curt and two receiver set up would not work for me. The appearance and approach angle would likely be a problem.

@Bryan I just sent the note over to them so they should be reaching out to you in the near future about this. The only other alternative would be to go with the TorkLift SuperHitch Hero # TL74CR which has dual receivers but gives a much better appearance. I know this is a bit more pricey, but aside from this, the only other thing I can think of is to have a shop go in and modify a hitch to fit so you get the higher weight capacity and something that fits.
