Replacement Brake Assemblies For Old Kelsey Hayes 71744 Hub/Drum Assemblies

Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/27/2024

Question:

Im looking for trailer brakes for an old kh 71744 drum. I see that the hays/alko 185100-150 used to be the replacement set for that but Im not finding it on your website. does Dexter or somebody make a replacement for the hays/alko part number listed? 5200 lb. Would like self adjusting if made. Bought a set from libra off Amazon but bolt pattern doesnt match. Do you have shoes and magnets for old ones if I cant get self adjusters? Thanks

Hey Mark,

Can I have you measure the bolt pattern from center to center of the mounting holes in your brake assembly? I believe the etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-7-SA would be just what you need but want to confirm. I've attached a little diagram of the mounting bolt pattern for these assemblies to compare to. Let me know what your pattern is to confirm if this will work or if I'll need to keep looking for the correct assembly.

Hey Mark, did you get a chance to measure the bolt pattern on your old KH 71744 brakes to compare with the etrailer self-adjusting set? Once you have those measurements, I can help confirm if that assembly is the right match. Let me know what you find so we can get you set up with the correct brakes.
