How to Tell if PTC Cabin Air Filter Will Fit a 2001 Ford Ranger

As far as I can tell, 2001 Ford Rangers did not come equipped with a cabin air filter, but I would like to retrofit mine with one. Does this part fit within the existing fan box?

Hey Erik,

According to my research the PTC Custom Fit Cabin Air Filter # 3513661 measures 6-1/4" x 6-3/4". I don't have the specs of the fan box on your 2001 Ford Ranger, but if you're able to access it you can check these dimensions to see if you have that room.

You might also check your copy of the owner's manual to see if the cabin air filter is referenced in there at all.

@JonG Yes, the filter does fit! It took more effort than expected to install because it must be installed from the engine compartment and a lot of parts needed to be removed to gain access. But I am happy knowing that road dust is now being filtered out!
