Can I Add A 4-flat Connector To The Back Of My Camper For Double Towing?

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/24/2024

Question:

Hi, I have a question about wiring for a trailer. I have a camper trailer that uses a 7 pin connector. The camper already has a rear hitch. I want to add a 4 pin connector off the back of the trailer so that I can triple tow I know not allowed in all states or so that I can plug in auxiliary brake/turn lights if I use my bike rack on the back of the camper it blocks the existing brake/turn lights. Do you have a 4-pin kit that I can splice into the camper wiring? And if so can you help me with how to wire it? Thanks

Hello and thanks for getting in touch. It is possible to add a 4-pin connector to the back of your camper for double towing. To hook up the lighting you will need to use junction box # 38656 along with 4-flat connector # HM48035, which you can mount with brackets # 18144 and # 18140. You are going to run the lights from your camper to the junction box and then to the 4-flat connector. You may need extra wire # DW02923-1 and butt connectors # 05730-5 as well.

Hey, how did the wiring for the 4-pin connector on your camper turn out? Were you able to get the junction box and harness set up the way you wanted? Your update could make it easier for the next person adding lights behind a camper.
