How to Add an Additional 4-Way Connector to a Vehicle w/a Factory 7-Way

Question:

I have 2014 ram 1500 sport. It has factory 4 pin / 7 pin plug. I want to add both a lighted tailgate emblem and LED tailgate bar with sequential turn lights both have 4 pin connector i believe. Is there a quick connect harness that has 2 extra 4 pin connectors to hook up both?

Hey Ryan. I can help you add an additional 4-way connector to your Ram 1500. You'll need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package item # C55384 you were looking at. This harness will plug in to your factory wiring right behind your factory 7-way/4-way. It will give you a 36" long harness with a single 4-way at the end of it.

I do not have a harness with two 4-way connectors on it but you can install two of these. They just connect in line so there's no reason you can't use two item # C55384 connected to each other. I've linked an installation video below so you can see how to get this wiring harness installed. If you skip ahead to the 2:00 mark you'll see exactly where to start.

Have you considered wiring one of the lights directly to your Ram's taillight wiring?

Hey Ryan, how did things go adding the extra 4-way connectors for your Ram’s tailgate lights? Did using two of the Curt harnesses give you the setup you wanted? Your results could really help others trying to power both a lighted emblem and a tailgate bar.
