Video Transcript for Review of Thule Hitch Bike Racks - Foldable Loading Ramp - TH43VA

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this Thule foldable loading ramp for your bike racks. Now, e-bikes are pretty heavy and we know how hard it can be to load them onto your bike rack, so you can really skip the hassle and just use this Thule folding loading ramp instead of trying to muscle your bike into place. Just to show you what we're talking about, if I pop up an insert, you can see how the folding ramp right there, you can roll your bike right up onto the bike rack. So basically, all you have to do is just unfold this ramp.

The pieces fold out and lock into place so it stays in one piece, and then just attach the ramp. There's a tab here that'll insert into the bike rack. Attach the ramp to the rack, and then just roll your bike up and you're good to go. This foldable loading ramp makes it easy to load and unload the bikes on the bike racks. And what's nice about it, you can see when it's fully open, it's about 53 inches long, so it gives you a less severe incline to roll up compared to other ramps.

And then when you're done with it, it easily, conveniently folds back in for a nice compact storage when you're done. Easy to handle, and then just put it wherever you need to. But that should do it for the review on this Thule foldable loading ramp for bike racks.

This is my second Thule bike rack. My first rack was destroyed in a car accident, unfortunately between racks I bought a much cheaper rack and after installing it and trying it out decided it was not going to work for me. I then ordered my 2nd Thule and absolutely thrilled. The lights are a nice addition, and the extended ramp is worth every penny for heavy e-bikes. The light weight and folding design are what I needed. Superior quality and workmanship.

by:

Excellent add to the Thule EPOS 2! Significantly made the load and unload process of our e-bikes more manageable. Easy to attach and detach.

by:

This is very useful. So useful that when I lost the one that came with the bike rack I had to buy a replacement.

by:

The Thule ramp really helps load my 70lb e-bikes on the back of my SUV. Really saves the back. Etrailer is always an excellent shop that I’ve ordered from many times.

by:

I like that this ramp is longer than the original ramp that came with the bike rack. I am concerned that it flexes a lot when I load and unload my E-bike so I hope connecting part doesn’t warp or break off. Will give it a few more uses to see how it does.

by:

Lightweight, easy to use, back saver!

by:

I have now had multiple orders recently and the speed of receiving items has been excellent.

  • Is Thule Foldable Loading Ramp Compatible with Other Brand Racks?
Hey Bruce! Each bike rack ramp, like the Thule Foldable Loading Ramp # TH43VA you referenced, has a unique way to connect to the bike racks it was built for. This ramp is made to fit with the Thule EasyFold XT and the Epos so it will only work with them. If you can tell me what bike rack you have I can see if there is a ramp made for it, or see if there is an alternative rack and ramp available that has the same features as what you currently have.

  • Is There Thule Bike Rack that Has Ramp that Can be Used at Rear of Motorhome
Hey Suzanne, while I do have a great bike rack solution for you there isn't a ramp that works with the Thule T2. Instead you'd need to with the Thule Verse bike rack part # TH64SA and then go with the matching ramp for this rack part # TH43VA.

  • Will Thule EasyFold XT Fit Saris Door County Bike Rack Lift
Hi Steve; the Saris Door County Bike Rack # SAR42RR lift only works with this rack. There is no way to adapt the Thule EasyFold XT to fit. If you want to use the electric lift the only option would be to replace your bike rack. Do you have a ramp for your EasyFold XT? If nothing else you can add the # TH43VA to make loading and unloading easier. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by fasteners but Thule does offer the Replacement Long Arm Assembly # 1500052414 and Replacement Short Arm Assembly...

  • Trailer Hitch for 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Carrying Bike Rack
Hey Lyndy! For a hitch that fits your 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13397. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. The hitch has a 525 lb max tongue weight so it can handle any bike rack and bikes you throw at it. It also has a concealed cross tube so only the receiver will be visible giving it a nice, clean look. Do you already have a bike rack or would you like some recommendations? If you can give me a better...

  • E-Bike Rack Recommendation with Ramp, Tilt, and RV Approval
Hey Kate, for a nice e-bike rack that covers all of the things you mentioned you would want the Thule Verse bike rack part # TH64SA with the ramp part # TH43VA. This will give you an RV approved E-bike rack that can fold up and has a ramp like you are wanting! Got any big trips planned to take the e-bike with?

  • Bike Rack for Aventon Aventure E-Bikes With Ramp and Lights
Hi Kalani; assuming I'm looking at the correct Aventon Aventure you need a bike rack capable of handling 77 lbs per bike. The closest option we have that includes everything you're looking for is the Thule Epos Bike Rack w/ LEDs for 2 Bikes # TH49XE. However, it has a max capacity of 140 lbs (75 lbs for 1 bike) so you're going to have to remove the batteries to carry the bikes. This bike rack comes with locks for the bike rack and bikes, along with LED tail lights you will plug into a...

  • What Hitch and Bike Rack Should I Get for My 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid?
Hello John, For your 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid, you’ll want our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98848. I really like that our etrailer hitch comes in a matte black finish, it gives it that OEM look. If you’d prefer a glossy finish, then you’ll want the Curt # C13397. As for the bike rack, it really depends on what kind of bikes you have and how many you need to transport. If you’re looking for a single-bike rack, check out the Benton...

  • Does Thule Make Loading Ramp for Platform Bike Racks
Hey Susan! What kind of Thule bike rack do you have? They do make the Thule Foldable Loading Ramp for Bike Racks # TH43VA. This works with any of their racks designed for a ramp like the Thule Epos # TH69XE or Thule Verse # TH64SA. There will be a mounting point on the cradle for the tab as seen in the attached photo.

  • Bike Rack for E-Bikes on 2020 Acura RDX With 1-1/4" Receiver
Hi Mike; I don't see any information out there on that 1-1/4" hitch to indicate if it is a Class I or Class II. The issue with Class I hitches can be the depth of the receiver. Sometimes they're blocked off at the back so you need something that is Class I compatible if that is the case. Take a look at the capacity of the hitch (it should be listed on the actual hitch). A Class I will likely be listed as 1,500 lbs towing/150 lbs tongue weight. Also, you don't want to use an extender/adapter...

  • Looking For Bike Rack With Loading Ramp For Electric Bike With Fenders
Hello Jean, thanks for reaching out. The RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack # RKY10002 will not work on bikes with front fenders. The ratcheting hook much mount directly on the wheel. The fenders would get in the way of this and are not a secure attachment point. Also, there is no ramp attachment for this rack. That said, I do have a bike rack option I think you would be interested in. Take a look at the following: - Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel or Frame...

  • 2-Bike Rack for 2023 Toyota Highlander
Hey Kerry! The Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # NV22G is tough to beat. This is a really nice bike rack that also looks good on any vehicle. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this is if the capacity wasn't high enough or if you had front fenders. Another favorite of mine is the Thule Epos # TH99XE since it can mount to just about anything on your bike which makes it great for step throughs and other similar designs. It also folds up nicely for storage and can actually be rolled...

  • Best Bike Rack Out of Thule Epos, Hollywood Racks Destination, and Yakima OnRamp Bike Racks
Thanks for reaching out, Roy! The term "best" can be a little subjective since everyone has their own experiences and needs/wants, but in regards to which bike rack has the best features it is the Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH99XE hands-down because it comes with a locking quick-pin system for easily installing the rack to a hitch, individual towers and locks for the bikes, wheels to help make toting it around easier, and a step on the back for tilting the rack away from the vehicle. • Loading Ramp For Thule Epos Bike Rack

I went ahead and verified for Thule that what you need is the Thule Foldable Loading Ramp # TH43VA.

  • Can Thule T2 Pro XTR Fit with Fenders on Trek Allant+ 7S Stagger Bike
The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV is a great bike rack but since it secures bikes by their wheels it will damage the front fender on your Trek Allant+ 7S Stagger so we need an alternative option. If you want to stick with a Thule rack then the Thule Epos # TH99XE is my recommendation because of the adjustability in how it can secure the bikes by the frame. The nice thing about this rack is having the ability to add the License Plate and Tail Light Kit # TH79XE as well as the Long...

  • Why Does Thule Epos Have Cable Lock and Locks on Straps
The Thule Epos Bike Rack # TH99XE does come with locks for both the rack and the bikes but Thule also provides the Cable Lock # TH89XE just to make it seems more daunting to take the bikes. The standard locks will work great but locks are really just a deterrent so by adding a cable lock to the setup it makes your bike rack more daunting than the next. Thule got smart and made the Epos with the same mounting style as the EasyFold XT so you'll use the Thule Loading Ramp # TH43VA for the...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for Heybike Explore and Aventon Adventure Fat Tire E-Bikes
Thank you for all of the information! The only bike rack we carry that hits on everything you're wanting is the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 combined with 2 sets of the Fat Bike Straps # TH985101. The EasyFold XT has a weight capacity of 65 lbs per bike (yours should fall into this with the batteries removed), will work with up to 4-11/16" wide tires when you use the Fat Tire Straps, and then it has a max wheelbase of 51-3/16" which the Aventon Adventure fits just fine in but is the...

  • Recommended Hitch and Bike Rack for 2010 Acura TL Carrying MOKwheel Basalt ST 2.0
Hey James; I would be happy to bless you with my recommendation for the best setup. There is a lot to consider with bike racks, especially with heavier e-bikes, so it is easy to get overwhelmed. It looks like your link didn't come through so I'm going to use the Basalt ST 2.0 specs from the MOKWheel site since that is the only Basalt 2.0 I see listed. Starting off with the trailer hitch (that's the easy one) I recommend the Curt # C11496. There are only two choices here, and I prefer...

  • Solution for Hitch and Bike Rack for E-Bikes on 2024 Honda Accord HEV
Hello Don; the # HLY74FR will not work with the Draw-Tite # DT86PR since it is Class I. A Class I hitch is also the only option available for your Accord so you will need a different bike rack that is Class I compatible. The only rack that comes close to holding 73 lb e-bikes is the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH99XE. This can hold 75 lbs for 1 bike but only 140 lbs for 2 bikes which means you'll have to shave off a few lbs to keep it under capacity (pulling seats might do it otherwise...

The only option for your situation is from Thule: - Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH99XE The Epos # TH99XE uses masts with ratcheting straps on them which allow you to grasp your bikes by either the frame or rear wheel, which is why it'll work with both your bikes. It also has wheel straps on the trays so your bikes are...

  • Best Bike Rack For Americano Step Through Bike And Hybrid Bike On 2023 Mazda CX-50
Hello Paul, thanks for reaching out. Your Americano step through bike has fenders, correct? If so, what I recommend is the Thule Epos Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # TH99XE. This uses a clamp that attaches to the frame, so fenders will not be an issue. The clamps are adjustable so they can work with step through and standard frames. The wheel straps are also adjustable so they can accommodate different wheelbases up to 53" maximum. The rack folds up nice and compact for storage which is nice if...

I do have a great bike rack option for you, but the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR is only rated for 35 lbs per bike, so this will not work for your 56 lb e-bike. What I recommend instead is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack # HLY74FR. This will work with the 1-1/4" hitch and it can hold two bikes weighing up to 80 lbs apiece. It will also work with larger tires up to 5" wide. Overall it is just a very solid versatile...
