Hey Dave,

I have the following flat towing component recommendations for your 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland:

Baseplate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM77ZR.

Tow Bar: etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e84ZR. This tow bar comes with safety cables bracketed to the arms so that you don't have to purchase them separately or worry about them dragging. The head/shank has a built in drop/rise to help keep the tow bar level without also purchasing a high/low adapter. There's also a bar to hold up your excess 7-way cable so it won't drag on the ground.

You're right on the border of weight capacities so I went with the higher capacity # e84ZR. If you go get your Jeep weighed while fully loaded like you'd be if you were travelling and fall under 6,000lbs you could switch to the lower capacity # e74ZR and save a bit of money.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This kit will transfer your light signals from the motorhome to the Jeep and also transfer a charge over to the Jeep battery if you have a charge line installed. If you have ParkSense proximity sensors then you'll need to switch to the Roadmaster Smart Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Wiring Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM63MR instead.

Braking System: If your 2018 Tiffin Phaeton has hydraulic disc brakes you'll want to go with the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # SM99251. This will need to tap into the brake light switch, which isn't useable in your Jeep so you'll need to also install a RoadMaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM77RR to send the brake signal to the indicator light of this system.

If your motorhome has air brakes then you'll want to go with the Demco Air Force One # SM99243 instead. This uses a reed switch instead of the brake light switch so you would not need a stop light switch kit with this system.

Since the battery will drain while you tow I recommend also installing a charge line kit # RM-156-25 to avoid having it die while out on the road. If your motorhome doesn't have a charge line ran to the 7-way then you'll also need part # RM-156-75.

If you have any other questions just let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Hey Dave, how did your flat tow setup for the Grand Cherokee Overland work out with the Roadmaster baseplate and Demco braking system? Your update could make it easier for the next person setting up a similar Jeep and motorhome combo.
