Wanting to make sure this hitch fits on a silverado 2012 4x4 1500 crew cab short box.

The Curt Class V Hitch part # C15323 that you referenced has been confirmed by Curt to fit your 2012 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4, crew cab, short bed truck. This hitch should work well for you. I attached installation instructions for you to check out.
Most likely you have trailer wiring, but if yours is damaged you would want the Pollak 7-Way part # PK11916. I attached an install video for this product.
For a ball mount, hitch ball, and pin and clip, I would recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. This is a kit which includes 2 ball mounts, a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, and a hitch pin and clip.
