Question:
I am researching installing an axle with electric brakes on my single axle utility trailer. Does the Prodigy 2 controller work in a jeep 4xe, and is the jeep already wired so I can just plug to connect the wires? Thanks.

Hi David,
You can use a brake controller in your 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, and it may be wired for one already, though that depends on if you have the factory tow package. You'd know if you do because you would already have a 7-way trailer connector at the back of the Jeep. And while we don't have a Prodigy 2, we do have the latest model, which is the highly reliable Prodigy P3; if you DO have the 7-way and tow package all you'll need is the following:
- Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness # TK84HR
This is the controller and plug-in harness combined so you'd be set. If your Jeep does not have the tow package, then you'd have to install the wiring, and I'll list out the parts needed for that:
- T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 56407
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7
- Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195
You will first install the 4-flat, which will activate your trailer's lighting functions, and you'll then plug that into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation.

Hey David, how did things go getting the Prodigy P3 set up with your Jeep 4xe’s wiring? It’d be great to hear if the tow package made the connection easier. Your update could make it easier for others working on a similar setup.
