Replacement For F15W/33 850Lm T8 183 Bulbs In A 2005 Fleetwood Discovery Motorhome

Updated 01/20/2026 | Published 08/14/2024

Question:

I have a 2005 Fleetwood Discovery Motorhome, the question I have is the coach has two fluorescent lite fixtures on the inside ceiling with two bulbs per fixture. One of the bulbs burned out and was going to replace it but the numbers on the bulb which are F15W/33 CE coolwhite 850Lm T8 183. All information I have found is these bulbs are for AC power. I know these lights worked on the 12 volt battery power. Are these just the old regular fluorescent bulbs or is this something special I need to use. Kind of confused on how an AC power bulb works on 12V power.

Hello John. We do have some options for replacing the F15W/33 850Lm T8 bulbs. If your light fixture uses the tube-style bulbs we have the T8 LED Light Bulb # DI73VR. This bulb is 18" long and has 700 lumens of output, so not quite as bright as what you have now.

We also have a surface-mount T8 LED bulb part # DI44ZR. This is 1,400 lumen rated so a good option if you want something brighter. You may want to replace all 4 bulbs so they match.

Both of the bulbs I mentioned are made to work with 12v DC power not AC.

Hey John, how did the LED T8 bulbs work out in your Fleetwood Discovery? Did the brightness and color match what you were hoping for inside the coach? Your update could make it easier for others replacing similar fixtures.

@JesseM Jesse I did not replace the bulbs with the LED T8 but found the original F15W/33 CE coolwhite 850Lm at a local hardware store. I am pretty sure that fluorescent bulbs are being phased out and hard to find so the next time one goes out and as the access is pretty easy, I will probably replace the entire fixture with a LED fixture. Thank you for the updated reply on my question. Thanks again John Kearns

@JohnK Thanks for the follow-up, I appreciate the update! That makes sense, those F15W/33 fluorescents are definitely getting harder to find, so you were smart to grab one while it was available. You’re also right that long-term, switching to an LED fixture is usually the easier route once replacements dry up. Glad the access is easy on your Discovery, and thanks again for circling back. If you decide to go with a full LED fixture down the road and want help picking one, just let me know.
