Question:
I have a 2013 Ford Edge SE with 2-inch receiver. I want to use the model KU84FR. The fit guide on the Kuat website specifies the distance for the center of the hitch pin to closest cradle is 5-7/8 with hitch in stowed position. This would not be enough for my vehicle. However, I watched this product review video on etrailer.com. At time 5:18, the tech measures the distance from the hitch pin center to the closest cradle to be 6-1/2 inches which would work with my vehicle. This seems like a large discrepancy. Can you very the correct measurement? Thanks

Hi Michael; the closest cradle on the # KU84FR when folded is what Kuat shows at 5-7/8". That was an approximate measurement in the video and should be updated. Since 5-7/8" isn't enough for your 2013 Ford Edge SE you have two options. The first is to use the # HL20B or # KU37FR extension. However, an extension reduces your hitch capacity by 50%.
The second is to get the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # KU74FR instead. This version of the bike rack has a 6-11/16" measurement so it will work with your vehicle. The only downside is this has a reduced capacity of 40 lbs per bike instead of the 60 lbs per bike the 2" version has.

Hey Michael, did you end up going with the Transfer V2 rack or one of the hitch extensions for your Edge? Your results could really help others trying to clear their rear hatch with a similar setup.
