Could Curt Hitch Adapter D-192 be Used in Drop Position for Carrying Bike Rack
Published 11/16/2017 >
Question:
Hello, I am looking at the above product but have a question. I have a Jeep that is raised with big tires/spare on back. To get around the spare tire when using a bike rack I will need to use an 8inch extension but since the Jeep is high off the ground I was thinking of using this product upside down. Since my bikes are heavy it would put them lower to the ground so my wife can load them by herself easier. Is this use ok? thanks,

Helpful Expert Reply:
Using a hitch extender like the Curt Dual Adapter part # D-192 does cut the capacity of the hitch it is installed in by 50 percent, so if your hitch has a capacity that is currently double the capacity needed for your bikes and bike rack this would be a viable option. This also can be used in the drop position if needed as well.
