7-Way Extension for Hard to Reach Connector on Prodigy RF Installed Under 2022 Highlander By U-Haul

Updated 04/08/2024 | Published 04/07/2024

Question:

I have a 2022 Toyota Highlander with factory tow package that came with 4-pin plug and handsfree lift gate. I had Uhaul install a 7-pin and brake controller. They chose the Prodigy RF controller with what Im assuming is an integrated 7-Pin. They installed it under the vehicle and is difficult to access without laying on the ground. I also cannot use a 7-pin tester because it doesnt fit in the space in front of the plug. Will this work to have easier access to plug a 7-pin Camper or trailer into?

A big part of your problem is that the Tekonsha Prodigy RF is designed to be mounted to your trailer. If they were going to use a wireless brake controller and mount it to your vehicle it should have been the Curt Echo # C51180 which simply plugs in-line with your vehicle 7-way. You can try to take it back and have them redo it but it probably isn't worth the trouble to try and get them to fix this. The # C86DR is a different kind of extension so it won't work with your setup. You can use one of the following:

-TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6024 (28" long)

-TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6032 (38" long)

-TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6036 (42" long)

-TorkLift Wiring Harness Extension # TLW6042 (48" long)

These will plug into the 7-way connector on your Prodigy RF and give you an extension to connect to the trailer. I gave you various lengths since I'm not entirely sure where they installed the brake controller on your Highlander.
