Question:

I need to add a hitch and wiring to my 2024 Highlander so I can take our bikes with us on vacation as well as move and use my small utility trailer occasionally. What do you think would be best for this? This is a hybrid so I'm not sure if that's something that matters or not.

I have the perfect parts to get your 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid setup for taking your bikes with you on a trip as well as moving and hauling with your trailer!

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e75ZR is my go-to brand when it comes to trailer hitches because of the matte black finish. I've had a few of these on my own vehicles and I love how the matte black is more subtle than the glossy black finish and it does a better job at hiding any scratches that might happen from road debris.

Then for wiring you need either Curt # C68RV if you have the factory tow package or the Curt # C59496 if your Highlander doesn't have the tow package. These kits give you a standard 4-Way wiring connector that you'll find on your utility trailer, and can be secured next to your hitch receiver with the mounting brackets # 18144 and # C57202.

To round out your towing setup you also need a ball mount. Something like the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45534 with the 2" drop is a good place to start but I do recommend also checking out the linked ball mount article to ensure this will allow you to tow your trailer level.
