Question:
I have a 2019 Highlander and I'm needing to add one of your 4-way wiring harnesses. How do I know if I have the tow package or not? I've been trying to research but I can't find anything online.

For some reason Toyota isn't very forthcoming with how to figure out if you have the tow package or not. From my understanding all of the V6 models of the 2019 Toyota Highlander have the tow package but it isn't specified as to what else might have the tow package (or if it's even available elsewhere). If you don't have a V6 then you can try contacting your local dealer with your VIN to see if they can help you out with that or you can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2979 and test the connector for the 4-Way in your rear cargo area to see if the light functions are working or if you need the converter package to activate them.
If you have the factory tow package then you just need the pigtail # 56042, but if you don't have the factory tow package you need the pigtail and converter # C56217. I have attached installation videos for both options on a 2019 Toyota Highlander that you can check out.
I'm guessing you already have a trailer hitch but if you don't I recommend the EcoHitch # 306-X7250 because it features a hidden crosstube to give you a very clean look once everything is installed. I've attached an install video for these as well.
To complete a towing setup you also need a ball mount kit. I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900 because it includes two ball mounts, one with a 3/4” rise/2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise/4” drop, a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You will want to refer to the attached ball mount article to ensure that this kit is correct for your towing application.
