Good question, and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C84ZV that fits your 2022 Subaru WRX will come out underneath the bumper and not through a bumper cut out.
Curt doesn't have a great photo of this installed, so I added a cut out below from the instructions which show the # C84ZV being put on a WRX which shows that it goes under the bumper.
