Can Older Pro Series 12K V-5 Weight Distribution System Work with a 7K Trailer
Published 12/29/2023 >
Question:
I have a Reese pro series weight distribution hitch setup off my old 38’ travel trailer rated for 1200 lb tongue weight and 12000 lbs gross trailer weight. Can I use this same weight distribution hitch setup for my smaller travel trailer with a 700 lb tongue weight and 7,000 lb gross trailer weight or do I have to get a different weight distribution hitch for the smaller travel trailer?

Your Pro Series 49587 weight distribution system has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 1,200 lbs so it will actually be perfect for your smaller trailer!
That is an older weight distribution system so if you get to the point where it's worn out and you want to replace the entire thing I highly recommend the 8K Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU67FR since there is some adjustability in the mounting brackets and it's a pretty middle-of-the-road system when it comes to price and quality.
