Question:
I own a chev Tahoe with tow package. The rating on my hitch is max 1000lbs. I am towing a16 ft enclosed utility trailer empty weight 2950lbs. I have the ability to carry additional 4000lbs. With my trailer loaded the tounge weight is about 500lbs. I have a shank with a 8inch I use now. Question: I Am looking at blu ox track pro distribution w/sway control 9hole shank 8k gtw 800lbs blu 67fr. Im worried about ordering the wrong system. So what do you think is this part correct for my use?

Expert Reply:
Since your tongue weight is right at 500 lbs the best Blue Ox SwayPro is the part # BLU36FR which has a tongue weight range of 200 to 600 lbs. The part # BLU67FR would be rated too high as it has a range of 600-800 lbs. If your loaded tongue weight was about 100 lbs more than what you have now this would work well but using the 500 lb figure it would be too high. You should keep in mind that any weight behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle gets counted as tongue weight.
If needed this system will work with your current shank as well.
