The only way to install a trailer hitch with a 2-1/2" receiver on your 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 is to go with a universal-type hitch like this one from Curt:
- Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets # C37CR
All of the custom fit options for your vehicle only come with a 2" receiver so you'll need to have something universal like what I mentioned above welded to your vehicle frame in order to get the larger receiver size.
