2-1/2 inch Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 for Use with Hitch Extender
Updated 03/14/2017 | Published 03/13/2017 >
Question:
Convert 2 inch receiver hitch to a 2.5 inch receiver or a 2.5 receiver hitch fit a 2008 Dodge quad cab long 8 ft bed 3500 dully. Hitch would be used with a 4 foot extender and must fit about 10 inches below the back bumper. Truck has a 5th wheel hitch attached on the underside of the bed. Hitch will be used with a Lance 1911 slide in camper that has a side entry and extends about 2.5 feet past the rear bumper. I have the 40 inch extender that fits a 2.5 inch receiver.

You are going to need to replace your 2 inch trailer hitch on your 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 with one with a 2-1/2 inch opening so that you can use your 40 inch hitch extender. For that you would want the Curt hitch part # C15809 which is a confirmed fit and would work well.
I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.
