Question:
I need a brake controller for my 2018 suburban. I am struggling to determine if it has a tow package for the wiring or not. I dont have a regular use for the controller, just for a vacation. What is the simplest way to get tailer brake control?

If your 2018 Chevy Suburban came from the factory with a 7-way connector, the port for the brake controller adapter is located in the junction box located behind the emergency brake pedal. I have attached a picture below to help you find it.
For a compatible easy to use brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller item # RED24FR. This is a proportional brake controller that activates your trailer's brakes when your Suburban decelerates. It has a unique installation method where the only visible portion is the control knob that's about the size of a nickel. The main unit is hidden away inside your dash to be completely out of the way and out of sight.
You will be able to use the Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness for Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # 331-TPH-010 to complete your installation.
If you don't have the factory port, I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller item # C51180. The Echo plugs directly into your Suburban's 7-Way connector and allows you to control the settings through an app on your phone. No splicing wires or brake controller in the cab. The Echo is also a proportional brake controller that slows or stops your trailer when your Subruban decelerates. It uses Bluetooth to communicate with your phone so you will never have to worry about losing signal.
