Question:

I have a bike rack which I think is model 5155168 two bike. It’s an older model with a center mounted piece with two control arms that attach on the top two of a bike. I was wondering if it’s possible bro replace the center mounted piece with support which attaches on the tire or handle bars? Thanks

The part number you reference is to an older Thule Big Mouth bike rack which has been discontinued, however I believe the part you're referring to and needing is the Replacement Wheel Tray for Thule Big Mouth Roof Mounted Bike Carrier # 853-5423-56, however the upright bike arm has been discontinued with the rack and is not offered for a replacement.

If your current upright is non-operational then I'd just recommend replacing the entire rack with the Thule ProRide XT Roof Bike Rack - Frame Mount - Clamp On or Channel Mount # TH598004.

This bike rack can handle one bike that weighs 44-lbs, a maximum tire width of 3", and will fit on round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars.
