2017 Prius Prime. Works great! Install video was on point! Almost can't see the receiver looking at the car. Would highly recommend for this car.

Hitch looks great on there, Chris! And I agree, you can hardly tell it's there! What kind of bike is that? Kind of looks like a gravel bike, but I'm not sure up to date with bike styles these days.

by:

Was a bit tricky installing but any aftermarket parts always gonna take a little work to figure out. The instructions were a big help though, everything was clear and accurate.

Almost a year into having it installed on the car and it’s worked great, always feels secure and has allowed me to finally take my bikes out with the Prius.

by:

Because I live near by Etrailer could install the trailer without charge and did do without a problem or long wait time!

2015 Kia Sportage

Kia 2025 Kia Sportage Hybrid.
This was
the easiest trailer hitch I ever install. The three screws line up perfect with the threaded hole in the frame. Never even raised car. My wife held up one end and threaded in the bottom screws. Did not need any more help. Torqued to spec and was done in less than 15 minutes installing the actual hitch. I removed the panels the day before, it took me a way, until I learned the trick. On my car it had plastic plugs on one side, just pull middle out with my fingers and pull them out. The problem was the white caps/plugs that screwed on the threaded posts. I was turning them and pull down at the same time as one thread reported and did not make much progress. What you have to do is put you hand behind the black panel right were the white cap is an pull down, they come off easy and the white cap will still be in the plastic protector and in some cases the plug was still on the threaded post. The one left on the post, now unscrew very easy with your fingers, then just pop the white piece back in the hole. To reassemble just push the white caps back on the thread post, then replace the black plugs and push in the middle to lock them in. I work on this for about 1/2 hour, and using the method above it takes of 2 minutes to do. Hopefully etrailer will put this in the instructions and videos soon.

2019 Toyota Prius

This rock-solid hitch just works. It was tricky to install on our 2019 Toyota Prius, but now it easily handles our Tractor Supply trailer and bike rack.

by:

Excellent service again on the hitch for my 2018 Prius IV Touring. The videos and documentation were very helpful. It did take two of us to do the install and for amateurs there is a learning curve (how the clips come out, etc.) but we completed the install in an hour and a half. It is solid and looks like it came installed from the factory. I am very pleased with the product, my third from this company.

A year out and the hitch is working like a champ. Worthy product, that has worked just as I hoped.

by:

Purchased this hitch about a year ago and had my mechanic install it. He had no issues with the installation and I have had no problems with the trailer hitch. I have used it for my bike rack without problems. I have yet to haul anything with the hitch but do not anticipate any issues. I found the price reasonable and as far as the quality of the materials, they seem to be holding up well.

I'm happy to hear that after a year you still love the hitch, Gary. How often do you get to take your bikes out for a ride?

by:

This installation was on our 2020 Toyota Prius Limited. The on-line video was very helpful and realistic about this not being a particularly easy process. As it turned out we didn't need to completely drop the structural bumper piece and were able to slip the hitch up into place with just a bit of fiddling. We have used the hitch to pull a light utility trailer, light boat trailer and one of those aluminum cargo carriers converted to handle my recumbent trike. Great hitch! I still don't know what Toyota might have to say about that thing since it is forbidden in the manual. Hope we never find out.

Ford Edge

The receiver works great and is plenty sturdy,
I
got a local garage to install it after seeing from the video how involved the process is for a Prius Prime. The garage confirms that it went just fine, but is not simple.
On the usage side, good news and bad.
Good: The hitch sits well back of the bumper's outer edge so is not very visible to passersby. for someone concerned about marring the car's looks this would be a big plus.
Bad: Being well back, it is more difficult to mount my bicycle rack to this receiver than it was on my previous one, which was also on a Prius. If you have a place to park such as the edge of a wall or pit while mounting to the receiver, no problem. For me the rack is kept at the back of my garage with rather poor lighting and a level floor. I think next time I'll use a dolly to get under there.

2018 Toyota Prius

I tried installing this myself, but I don't have a socket wrench and so I ended up hiring some professional help to install. For the cutouts to the plastic baffles, I sealed them with Gorilla tape for extra protection. I used a CZC AUTO Expandable Hitch Cargo Carrier Bag which fit perfectly in the rack. The whole system performed flawlessly on my 5000 mile cross-country trip. The attached picture shows the rack and bag on the tail end of my Prius with the Habitent I used for camping.

by:
2016 Toyota RAV4

Works like a champ!
Installed on our
2016 Toyota Prius in about 90 minutes. Read the instructions, watch the install video and grab an extra set of hands and you'll have it installed in no time!
We are using it with a two-bike mount Yakima Holdup and a 4" - 2" to 1 1/4" adapter riser (We currently have a 2" hitch on our RAV4, so we can swap the rack between cars). Sways a little bit, but some black duck tape around the 1 1/4 inch adapter eliminate most sway.

Toyota Prius

Your website and purchase was easy and pretty accurate about matching the product w my car model and year (2018 Prius). The product got shipped on time to my address and the item was in perfect condition.
On the installation, it took some time but it was nice to have a second person to help me. Specially someone who has power tools. The video really helps make things go faster and not make any mistakes.
I am using it to install a bike rack since I don't want to place it on top of my car.
I would definitely recommend your product to a friend.

by:

I am pleased with the final look of the hitch on the car. The steps to get there were simple. Ordering was easy, shipping was free and arrived on time. After watching the video on installation, I realized that it would be a lot easier on a lift than lying on the ground with a roller board. I had the local Toyota dealer mount it. He raved about how perfect the fit was and said it was the best designed hitch for a Prius that he had ever worked with.

by:
2017 Toyota Prius

Perfect fit and the instruction video was excellent. I’ve always purchased from etrailer.com and never been disappointed on products and services. I do recommend leveling the hitch before final torque. Thanks again for helping me with my towing life!!!

by:

Product: Excellent. Not a flimsy hitch. Very well made. Price: Better than Amazon. Shipping: 4 days as estimated. Arrived without a scratch. Amazon estimated 5 weeks. Instructions: Great. Video very helpful. Customer Service: Great. Communicated when shipped and upon arrival. Appearance: Exactly as described. Installation: Not difficult. Follow instructions. 2 to 3 hours without a lift or ramps. Overall a wonderful customer experience. Small businesses rock!

by:

As easy to install as they could possibly make it. I did spend a few bucks on a cheap trim removal tool. Not absolutely necessary, but it makes life easier. Looks clean and is tucked up as tight as possible. Works great for my daughter’s bike carrier.

by:

Excellent product. Easy to install. The installation instructions were good. I did watch the video from etrailer on installing the hitch. Better yet.

Great trailer hitch for my 2017 Prius! Put it on today and it is perfect for my Thule Epos 2 bike rack. The installation video was a tremendous help! Trailer hitch went on without any problems, thank you so much for the great installation video. After watching it, it gave me the knowledge and confidence to install the hitch myself.

by:

I had never taken under body panels off. The videos on etrailer make this process extremely easy. I bought the trailer wiring harness and installed it at same time as the hitch. Took about 2.5 hours for everything and didn’t have to lift my car. I plan to tow a small harbor freight utility trailer for lumber and remodeling parts. I stood on the tongue, and at about 200 pounds myself, it felt very strong.

by:
2020 Toyota Prius

I received the trailer hitch in a very timely manner. I had the hitch installed by my local Toyota dealer. The hitch looks great .....barely visible. It works well on my 2020 Prius. Grateful for the informative videos and compatibility info on etrailer.com.

by:
2016 Toyota Prius

The install wasn’t as bad, it did take some patience though. I’d say the install took me about an hour and a half. I haven’t added a bike yet but I took the car for a drive and the bike rack (hitch) didn’t budge at all. So the real test would be the bikes when they come in.

by:

Works great, but was very challenging to install! (I did it myself, but would recommend having someone else go through the trouble instead.) I'm using on a 2019 Prius AWD-e. I purchased for use with a Kuat sheep 2.0 and toting around mountain bikes. The whole package works well for my needs and looks fantastic--hard to tell its there when nothing is attached, it sits perfectly flush the the under-bumper. Just finished the first winter and there is only a small amount of rust from road salt.

by:
Toyota Prius

Excellent product, delivery, and design! As advertised it was a challenge to install, but well worth the effort. Being full time RV'ers we tow our Prius on a dolly and need to move the dolly occasionally. This dolly is too heavy to move very far by hand. I think this hitch will serve us well.

by:

Came on time, just what I ordered. I recommend etrailer.

Not really. The way it fits in allows for some movement, which makes the whole thing feel unstable.

by:

Easy to install as long as you follow the instructions step by step. Having two sets of hands makes the job much easier. Nice quality, no issues using it for a bike rack.

  • Is Hardware Available or Included with Trailer Hitch for 2018 Toyota Prius
Hi Kaiser! Absolutely, all of our trailer hitches include the necessary hardware for installation. I can't quite tell by your question if you already have the Draw-Tite model 24966 and are just needing the hardware, in which case you can use our part # RHK (simply add that 24966 part number into the box provided on the product page and we'll send out the exact hardware kit you need for that hitch), or if you're still needing both the hitch and the hardware. If the latter is the case,...

The Draw-Tite Sportframe is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. In order to keep dirt and debris from getting inside the receiver tube opening, I recommend using the Rubber Hitch Cover part # 22281 while not in use. • Bike Rack Recommendation for 2018 Toyota Prius Prime with Curt Hitch Installed
For a Class I hitch like yours we do not recommend the use of hitch adapters since they cut the capacity of the hitch they are installed on by 50 percent and add quite a bit of movement. Instead we'd recommend a bike rack like the Thule Camber # TH9058 that has a longer shank that will fit underneath the bumper and not cause any fit issues. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well that shows it installed on a similar 2016 Toyota Prius.

Of the two, I highly recommend the Curt # C11473 because it gives you the best bumper clearance and ground clearance, which is important for accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers to keep them safely away from your Prius while avoiding scraping the ground.
