Question:
In reference to what another customer asked about using rear utility lights on an enclosed cargo trailer as reverse lights as well. I have two 13inch raycharm downward facing l.e.d.s above the rear ramp door that are on their own switch inside the trailer supplied from the 12v trailer battery. I am wanting to connect the reverse wire from the 7pin junction to them as well but also keep the use of my switch. From what Ive read up on, a diode such as RM-792 is the way to go but Im wondering if its just as easy as placing a single diode directly after the inside switch where the 7pin wire will meet and the have a single 12v/negative run to the back of the trailer daisy chaining the two lights? Basically trying to avoid have multiple sets of wiring going back to the same lights when they have to pass through a diode either way. Please advise if this is an acceptable way of wiring. Thank You!

Expert Reply:
You will want to use a single Diode # RM-790 for connecting your rear utility lights as reverse lights also. You will be able to place this diode near your existing light switch and run the wiring from your 7-way to there. This will eliminate having to have a diode at each switch with the Diode Pair # RM-792. You would only need to run an additional ground if your battery for the lights is not grounded to the trailer frame.
