Features to know about

Enhance Trailer Stability: Progressive Spring Rate Support

If you're hauling heavy loads or traversing rough terrains, these SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs are your go-to solution for enhanced stability. Designed with a progressive spring rate, they offer additional support as needed, allowing for a smooth and comfortable ride without compromising suspension movement. Their ability to become more rigid under heavier loads and increase stability makes them perfect for handling off-center weights and reducing body roll during sharp turns and swerves.

Maximize Trailer Load Capacity: 3K to 5K Weight Support

For trailer owners looking to maximize their load-bearing capacity, these springs are designed specifically to support single, underslung axles from 3,000 to 5,000 lbs. Constructed to absorb shocks and reduce trailer sway, they act as durable support systems that extend the life of your trailer's suspension system, all while ensuring your trailer maintains its intended ride height.

Simplified, No-Hassle Installation: Maintenance-Free Design

Say goodbye to complicated setups with these maintenance-free springs that eliminate the need for tubing or air pressure management. Their simple, no-drill installation fits trailers with 1-3/4" wide spring packs and includes everything you need: two jounce-style springs, a line relocation bracket, mounting brackets, and all necessary hardware. Experience the reliability of American-made quality and enjoy a limited lifetime warranty with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.

Reduce Rough Roads Impact: Shock Absorbing Jounce Springs

Navigate bumpy roads with ease, thanks to the shock-absorbing quality of the SumoSprings. Acting like virtual shock absorbers, these jounce springs take on the brunt of bumps and rough roads, lessening the impact on your trailer and its load. They reduce the pressure on your leaf spring assembly and work independently side-to-side, ensuring a smoother towing experience.

Tailor Installation to Your Needs: Versatile Fitting Options

Whether your trailer setup is underslung or requires custom setup, these SumoSprings adapt to your requirements. With a fitting capacity of 500 lbs at 50 percent compression, they accommodate a gap of 6"-8-5/8" between the top of the spring plate and the bottom of your trailer frame. Utilize the included spacers to achieve the perfect preload and ensure a smooth ride without excessive spring engagement.

Extend Suspension Longevity: Micro-Cellular Urethane Construction

Built with patented micro-cellular urethane construction, these helper springs offer long-lasting durability and resilience. They compress up to 80% of their original height and rebound fully, ensuring that your trailer's suspension remains functional and strong for years to come. This construction provides your trailer with the robust support needed for those extra miles on the road.

Exactly as advertised, easy install, works great.

by:

The single best upgrade for our toy hauler and the overall hauling experience. Buy these and install them asap!

by:

As advertised Sumo springs dampen rough road ride a lot less side to side motion also

by:

We’re all of their trailer need you just need to contact the Trailer. They stand behind their word 100%.

by:

Pretty easy install on my tandem axel fifth wheel. I did have to add four additional 1" spacers, one for each spring, to get the additional 1/2" lift desired. To do this I had to buy longer M8X80 mm bolts. I haven't towed it yet but I expect them to perform as promised.

by:

I got 2 sets of these 5K-8k Sumo springs. I have Sumo springs on my tow vehicle and they are great. items states they fit any axle but would not fit my Dexter 8K axles. These are made for 1 3/4 inch springs and mine are 2 inch. called Super spring and they do not have a bracket for 2 inch springs. I was able to make them work by have a machine shop modify the brackets to fit 2 inch springs. they seem to be doing a good job on my trailer.

by:

It is extremely hard for me to give this product a high rating because I was unable to install them. After making measurements before ordering them to be sure that they would fit, I purchased to sets for my tandem axle trailer. When they arrived, I determined the number of spacers needed, and in preparation for installation, bolted the springs to the Spring-Under Axle Bracket. I jacked up the trailer, set the first bracket with spring attached in place only to find that the long U-bolt would only project through the bracket approximately 1/8 of an inch, an inadequate distance to attach it with the washer and locknut. A trip to several local vendors failed to turn up a 5/16” U-bolt of the same width but longer. While the SumoSprings seemingly would improve the ride of my trailer, I had to return them due to this one component. I think the manufacturer should include different length U-bolts just as they supply different length bolts for use with the number of spacers needed.

by:

Working great. Settled the bounce down and boosted the trailer capacity. It also gave me a piece of mind of what would happen if I broke another spring like I did before I bought these. Functional and added safety.

by:

These SumSpring helper springs are awesome! I needed to figure out a way to add some carrying capacity to my car hauler without having to change the leaf springs and these SumoSprings were the perfect solution.

by:

These Sumo springs arrived on time and the quality looks great. Have not yet had a chance to install them, but based on what i have seen they should solve many of my concerns. Recently broke a leaf spring and was looking for a little added insurance for the new replacement springs. Also it's a single axle trailer with a lot of side to side bouncing.

by:

My order arrived quickly and correct. I appreciate the tracking emailed to me. The helpers went on easily and just like the video. My only modification was to remove the band on the rear spring. (A five minute task) The RV sits about 1 1/2 inches taller. I prefer this to flipping the axle in order to maintain a low center of gravity. In the picture, the springs actually are vertical when the RV is put back on the ground.

One year later, no problems. Everything has worked well. The RV is more stable on the road. Great product, I would buy again without hesitation.

by:

Worked really well, definitely smoothed out the ride. We are finding significantly less chaos with the equipment in the trailer.

The only complaint I would have is trying to use the Sumo Spring for very small enclosed trailers. The STEEL MOUNT was too tall, to meet the relaxed position height, so we cut 1" out of the mount and re-welded together, and repainted. But other than the additional modification it worked great.

Overall its a good product! There is certainly only so much you can do with a single axle trailer, its going to be a rough ride. But the Sumo Springs definitely smooth it out. We have had significantly less damaged items in the trailer after installing them.

by:

I added these to our 2022 Wolf Pup 16FQBL and they've been great! Super easy to install and make for a great ride.

by:

they are good for what they are, but I couldn't fit any of the black pucks that came with it. Not sure if that matters. I will see how they hold up. Easy to install.

If you didnt need them, its all good. Not everyone will have to use them. Theres a measurement in step two you have to take, which is the distance between the top of the bracket where you will mount it, to the bottom of the frame. The spacers are then used to make the Sumo Spring a fourth to half an inch taller than the measurement from step two. So if you didnt need the spacers, no sweat! Not everyone will have to.

by:

Easy install on my 2012 Wolf Pup Travel Trailer. I am yet to take it out but the squeak from the leaf springs is gone and it feels much more stable walking around inside. I can’t wait to get it in the road! I gained about 1.5 inches of wheel well space to fender as noted by some other reviewers but my camper is near empty so loaded it will be perfect and I don’t mind having a bit more clearance as I have a low trailer to begin with. No spacers we’re needed for my camper. I would say also I have about .75-1 inch preload vs instructions which say recommended range is 1/4-.5 inches… again I felt OK installing and have used sumo springs in the past with good results.

by:

I just installed the SumoSprings on a KZ Sportsmen Classic 160QB and it makes a big difference in stability. I also ordered Part number TSS-CTP (contact plate) from SumoSprings since the travel trailer frame is slightly offset and the Sumospring makes only 60% contact. Always great service and useful info from etrailer.

by:

I purchased these for a 2022 Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS. During the process of replacing the leaf springs I also had these SumoSprings installed to help with a smoother ride and to increase the longevity of the leaf springs. One year later everything is still working as intended. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a smoother ride or to increase the life of your leaf springs.

by:

Well-manufactured and designed product. I'm 74 and it took me about two hours to install on my travel trailer, but there were no problems and it seemed to fit perfectly and do the job I wanted it to do, which was support the leaf springs. Shipping was fast and free, and the follow-up is clear and honest. Great job, etrailer!!

  • SumoSprings for KZ Sportsmen Dual Axle Travel Trailer
The SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-107-40 are designed for single axle trailer applications, so for your tandem axle travel trailer, you'll just need two of these kits. These SumoSprings will fit your 2016 KZ Sportmen travel trailer as long as each of the axles is rated between 3,000 lbs and 5,000 lbs and they are overslung, where the springs sit on top of the axle. If your springs sit below the axle, which is the more common setup, you'll want to use two of part # TSS-106-40,...

Hi Earle; in general, a weight distribution hitch is a no go for unibody vehicles. However, that is not an absolute. I don't see anything specifically calling out weight distribution in the owner's manual so it is possible if the manufacturer says it is ok. I would reach out to a local dealer to see what they have to say about it. Assuming it is allowed, you will need a hitch that is compatible with weight distribution which would be the Curt # C45CR. Is it side to side motion? If your travel trailer weight is more than 50% of your trucks GVWR then it would be a good idea to use a weight distribution hitch which will level you out and reduce sway. If it is more like a rough ride then you could try an upgraded equalizer, shocks, or adding something like SumoSprings...

  • What Causes Trailer Leaf Springs To Break Continuously
Yes, leaf springs must be replaced in pairs which is why one side left go and then the other shortly after. In regards to the stent you get on a full set of leaf springs, there are really a ton of variables present here so it is hard to predict. However, if you are a full-timer then odds are your trailer is going to be subjected to harder conditions and most likely more weight than the average trailer therefore your suspension components will wear faster. • Can the Leaf Springs Be Upgraded On a Lippert 3,500 Lb Axle
It is possible to upgrade the leaf springs on a trailer to a higher rated set but I do not recommend this as it can create a rough ride. The better option would be to install the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-107-40 for overslung or part # TSS-106-40 for underslung axles.
