Question:

I’ve installed the Curt 4 pin T adapter wiring harness on my 2022 grand Cherokee new style. I want to add now the 7pin trailering. Can I use the same 12v supply lead that the Curt harness is using? I could add a 30amp fuse to the original then relocate the 15amp to continue to protect the original adapter ? I am thinking of running a fuse block near the rear where I can use the appropriate fuses for each adapter.

In order to convert the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness part # C27BR on a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL into a 7-way you'd need an adapter like the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L. The adapter requires its own power wire to the battery. You can't just use the wire that's already run because the circuit ratings are not the same and they'd both be pulling power at the same time, you will very likely damage the converter and or blown some fuses if you wired the adapter and converter to the same wire. The fuse is only effective when installed near the battery so running a wire and attaching a fuse block in the rear won't work either. I highly recommend you just run another wire which should not be too hard as you already have one run now so you'd just need to follow the path back to the battery.

Please note, the above adapter is designed for a wireless trailer brake controller which means no splicing into the vehicle and for this I recommend the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180.
