Features to know about

Installs Without Cutting or Splicing: Plug-In T-Connector

Trailer wiring doesn’t have to mean cutting into factory wires. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector plugs in directly behind the tail lights, giving you a simple plug-and-play setup. No splicing or programming needed—just connect the T-plugs, route the power wire to the battery, and you’re ready for trailer lights.

Protects Vehicle Circuits: Powered Tail Light Converter

Towing can draw more current than factory lighting circuits are designed for. This harness uses a powered tail light converter that takes its power straight from the battery. That isolates the trailer load and protects your vehicle’s internal wiring from shorts or overloads caused by trailer issues. It’s built for peace of mind every time you hook up.

Covers Trailer Lighting Basics: 4-Pole Flat Output

Once installed, the 4-pole flat connector provides running lights, brake lights, and turn signals for your trailer—all the key lighting functions you need for safe towing. It’s a standard connection that works with most small and mid-size trailers and can be expanded later with an adapter if you decide to add a 7-way setup for brakes or battery charge lines.

Built to Last: Quality Connectors and Secure Fit

The custom connectors fit snugly into the factory tail light ports to maintain a solid electrical connection. The powered converter is sealed and designed for reliability even when exposed to moisture or road grime, so your trailer lights stay working trip after trip.

Followed the installation video and completed installation with ease. Great addition. All working and matches to factory rear lights. The install videos are amazing.

by:

The installation of the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness went pretty smoothly. The Installation Video was a great help; I just followed along step by step, and it ended up working perfectly! I would definitely recommend this product. Having a lift would be very beneficial and cut down the installation time immensely.

Developed a “short” somewhere causing the running lights to stay on constantly. Checked ground and wiring and still can’t trace it down.

There could be more than one reason why the trailer lights are staying on constantly, starting with a corroded connector. What corrosion does is cause a short which can lead to the lights staying on, and when you unplug the connectors, they would, of course, turn off. So, start by checking there, and if you cannot clean the corrosion, you can replace the connectors on either the side of your vehicle or trailer. The other possibility is a short caused by damaged wiring on the trailer itself that is causing the power to remain, so you will want to check your wiring carefully looking for any damaged wires and repair or replace as needed with 10-gauge wire part # 10-1-1. I have added a link below to a help article on a troubleshooting guide for you to take a look at.

Still having issues with the wiring. lights are not working, took to an expert and they say its in the harness box

by:

It is a complete add on towing light kit that was easy to install and it worked perfectly. The only somewhat difficult part of the install is running the power cable from front to back and that is only because of how low to the ground my car is. If I needed another kit I would buy the same kit from etrailer.

by:

Easy to install!!! Plug and play and installed in under an hour

by:

Internal packaging held up well compared to the shipping box

by:

Worked exactly as described for towing a trailer. However, when adding towed vehicle wiring to my 2020 Cherokee Trailhawk,to tow behind my motorhome, I discovered that this connector will backfeed into the towed vehicle wiring, causing improper light operation, when the vehicle was towed behind the motorhome. If you unhook the connector to the driver’s side taillight & rehook the factory connectors, the towed vehicle wiring then operates correctly. When needing to tow a trailer, I just rehook this unit’s connector to my driver’s side taillights, and then lights on the trailer operate properly.

by:

Well detailed instructions helped make the installation go very well. No troubles encountered.

by:

This was easy to install

by:

Have done quite a bit of business with etrailer and have never been dissapointed.

by:

As advertised, no problems. Tutorials helpful. Etrailer solid people.

by:

This kit worked great. I ran the wire into my trunk area so that the connector does not get corroded. I have used this to connect a trailer about 4x and have had no issues.

by:

Very easy installation. Directions were excellent. Harness works great.

by:

Very clever trailer lites wiring harness! Works great!

by:

Pretty easy to install. I would recommend, if you have to drop muffler to install your hitch, install your wiring BEFORE reattaching the muffler. Also the directions stated to fish the wires UP through the bumper to the tail light. My arm is not thin or long enough for this. I dropped a ratchet strap down through the bumper, hooked it to the wire and pulled it up. Super easy. The power wire I ran under the wheel wells behind the plastics. Same with the undercarriage. Removed some bolts for the plastics and tucked the wire. I mounted the connector to the hitch with a cheap zip tie bracket I also bought from this site.

by:

First of all, etrailer's delivery was very fast (even though I used USPS). This unit replaced an identical unit that was just over 2 1/2 years old. The old unit had internally shorted out. Since this is powered up all of the time (like the keyless entry and computer) I'm just pulling the fuse out when I'm not towing. Otherwise, the unit works great. I think vibration and road shocks may have damaged the original unit while it was powered up. For the new unit, in addition to the included double stick tape, I screwed the unit to the car's body. I'm also going to add a strap around the control box as well.

by:

The kit fit well. Plenty of wire and connectors. The ground connector could have had a larger hole for where I located it. Installed and tested. It works well.

Glad to hear it, Joe! What are you towing with your Cherokee?

by:

What I would say is that the instructional videos are excellent however I was short one carriage bolt, and the packaging was completely destroyed and open by the time it had arrived. I would recommend a more sturdy packaging system for items of this weight. So you get an A+ for the instructional videos I found online. F for including all the parts and a C for the packaging. The hitch appears to be well constructed.

by:

The harness to the trailer has 2 nicks on the green wire insulation showing bare copper strands. The wire insulation appears to be stripped to long where it attaches to the plug and another spot about a 1/2" from the plug shows copper strands too. I didn't see these until the installation was completed and I know these nicks are not related to my routing. So I will apply liquid tape to these areas. Also, the section of wires to the trailer will work, but should be longer.

by:

This thing was a lifesaver! We bought a trailer for our small business, but even though our Jeep supposedly had a tow package, the wiring was totally shot the turn signals worked, but no brake or running lights. U-Haul couldn't figure it out, and a local mechanic wanted $120 just to look at it, so we were actually starting to think about selling the car. Luckily, I found this T-Connector kit. It only cost me around $100 and a couple of hours of my time to install it myself, and now everything works perfectly. So happy to finally get our trailer on the road! For the curious ones I attached some before and after of the wiring we were working with.

  • Which Hitch Is Best for Carrying E-Bikes and Light Towing with a 2021 Jeep Cherokee?
Hello Sadie, Thanks for writing in. For your 2021 Jeep Cherokee, I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver since you're planning to carry two e-bikes and may eventually tow a small boat trailer or lightweight camper. My top recommendation would be the etrailer hitch # e73ZR. Another great option is the Curt hitch # C13395. The two hitches are very similar in capacity and fit, and both will work great for carrying e-bikes or handling light towing duties. The main difference...

As far as having enough room there's plenty you'll just have to push the wires down below the lights. I have linked an installation video below that'll help you get the 4-Way set up. • Troubleshooting Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for 2019 Jeep Cherokee
Hey Xavier, I'm sure we can figure out the issue. Since your running lights are working, we know the harness has power and ground. That usually means the issue is either a loose connection at one of the taillight plugs, a fuse, or possibly the converter box not picking up the brake/turn signal. What I’d do try first is to reseat both T-connectors by unplugging and plugging them back in to make sure they're fully clicked in. Next is checking the ground connection to make sure it's attached...
