What do I need to know about installing your break controller for a hybrid? You list a break controller for a Toyota Highlander. You fail to make a distinction between controller for a hybrid. Should I be concerned?

Your 2022 Toyota Highlander hybrid can have a brake controller installed, and there is only one slight difference in the install between it and the non-hybrid. The only difference is on your '22 Highlander Hybrid, you should not disconnect the brake light switch unless the battery is disconnected or ignition is in the off position or else you may set off a code in the computer system that limits the vehicle's motion.
Apart from that, the install will be the same, and you will need a 4-flat (if you don't have one), a 7-way, brake controller wiring adapter, and brake controller:
- WITHOUT Factory Tow Package: T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # TK99FR
or
- WITH Factory Tow Package: T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # TK74FR
- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7
- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Universal Wiring Harness # RED52VR
You will first install the 4-flat, which will activate your trailer's lighting functions, and you'll then plug that into the 7-way that comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation.
