In order to tow a trailer with a 2018 Mazda CX-9 you'll first need to start with a trailer hitch and for this I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e87AR which offers a direct bolt-on fit. This trailer hitch has a hidden design which will offer the best overall appearance. It also has a 2" opening with class III rating so it will be great for towing or hitch mounted accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

In order to complete your towing setup you'll also need a trailer wiring harness and for this I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package part # 118278 which is our most reliable plug-in option.
