Question:

I have a Ford transit 250 3.7 V6 year 2016, this van did not come from the factory with the trailer electric brake controller module, you sold me a module for the trailer lights a year ago, this one has four pins but this only works for me for the trailers that I rent from U-Haul, now I bought a two-axle trailer with electric brakes .... My question is if that module that you sold me I can use as a controller for the electric brakes of the new trailer, if not It is so, I guess I should install a brake controller somewhere in my van but honestly I do not like those controllers that are installed as if it were an electronic device of a disproportionate size, I have seen that there are electric brake controllers for trailers for Ford that can be installed in the available spaces on the dashboard that the vehicle comes from the factory, only a cover is removed and the controller is installed, if you see it it looks like one more switch on the dashboard .... Do you have something like this available ?? Thanks.

What you are referring to by module is a 4-way, and that does not allow use of a trailer brake controller. So what you'll need to do is add a 7-way to your 2016 Ford Transit T250 which will allow you to use a brake controller. Since your Transit already has a 4-way, here is exactly what you'll need to complete the set up:

- Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7

- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - Dash Knob # RED24FR

- Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR

The 7-way comes with the # ETBC7, which also gives you the wiring, circuit breakers, and rest of the hardware needed for installation. Then the Liberty brake controller is controlled with a knob that you can install where you like so that you don't have a large device taking up space in your van.
