Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch For A 2022 Toyota Highlander
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I’ve got a 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD. Max tow weight 5000. Can I saw somewhere that a weight distribution hitch CANNOT be used in my car. Is this true? 2nd question… I’ve got my eye on a tow behind camper weighing 4,200lbs. Is this too much trailer? Toyota does not say what max pin weight is. Payload if the car itself is 1,225. Will be just me and my wife. With luggage I figure 500lbs leaving me 725lbs. Will this work, or am I dreaming? Thanks in advance for any insight you may have.

Yes, you will be able to tow your trailer using a weight distribution system. The 2022 Toyota Highlander XLE AWD has a gross towing weight up to 5,000 pounds. So with your trailer being 4,200 pounds and about 500-700 pounds extra when loaded you will be right under the weight capacity and will be fine.
When using a weight distribution hitch with your 2022 Toyota Highlander you need to be as close as possible to the loaded tongue weight of the trailer. The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0600 can work with tongue weights between 250 pounds to 600 pounds. The system has an integrated 2-point sway control that will limit the side-to-side movement.
The system has a powder coated steel construction which is durable and corrosion resistant. The 2-5/16 inch hitch ball # EQ91-00-6100 and The 1-7/8 inch Thin walled socket # EQ70-00-4800 are sold separately and are needed for the weight distribution system.
