Will Installation of Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Require Relocation of Spare on 2003 Dodge Sprinter

Question:
Item 13250 tow bar for 2003 dodge sprinter. It says I have to relocate spare tire but in pic after install it shows the spare tire still in place. What does it mean that spare needs a new home?

Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13250 will only require spare tire relocation if you have the 118" wheel base model. If your 2003 Dodge Sprinter has the 140" or 158" wheel base you will not need to relocate your spare tire. The picture you saw was on a model where the spare could remain in place.
If you do have the 118" wheel base model, there is not a trailer hitch offered that will allow you to keep your spare tire in the factory location. The only option would be to mount it in a different location on your Sprinter.
