Troubleshooting Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 Installation on 1999 Ford F-250

Question:
When i hook up to one of my trailers i get no light on controller, and blue wire has voltage all the time. manuel overide does nothing i have checked all grounds. i have white wire as ground, black iss constant hot and green is signal off pedal, blue stays hot all time. with this being said i can hook to my other trailer and everything works fine. please help

The wiring scheme for the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 is as follows: white wire is ground; the black wire is 12V power input to the controller; the blue wire carries the controller output signal which feeds the trailer brakes and the red wire carries the input signal from the brake light switch. This brake light switch signal (or the manual override switch) tell the controller to generate output. There is no green wire on the controller so I take it this is on your trailer; usually a green wire on a trailer carries right turn and stop signals.
Since your Voyager works properly with one of your trailers but not the other, it is likely that there is an issue in the one trailer. First, check the trailer connector for any signs of corrosion (even very slight greenish or whitish discoloration on the contacts can cause a problem) and clean as needed. In some cases if corrosion builds up within the connector housing (easily possible if it has been in use for a few years) it can cause two separate circuits to be bridged. Any connector whose condition is suspect should be replaced.
If you have an opportunity to do so, try the offending trailer with another brake-control-equipped tow vehicle to see if the issue remains. If it does then this suggests a problem in the trailer wiring. If the trailer has been re-wired then there may be an issue with the pin assignments on the connectors.
