Question:

Hi can we use this electric break controller on a tandem it is a newer Kenworth dump truck it has a 7 way electric plug at the back already just wondering if it will work on a truck with air breaks

Electric brake controllers work well on vehicles with air brakes like your Kenworth dump truck. The installation process is exactly the same for the Prodigy Brake Controller # 90185 as a vehicle with hydraulic brakes. I attached an FAQ article on installing brake controllers on vehicles from scratch that should be helpful.

All that matters is that you wire the controller to your vehicle correctly. The red wire runs to the stoplight circuit of your truck. You will want to find a circuit that only sees voltage when the brakes are applied and none when they aren't applied. The white wire gets grounded to the negative side of your batter, the black wire gets run through a circuit breaker like our part # 9506P at attaches to the positive side of your battery and the blue wire gets run to the brake output circuit of the 7-way on your truck. For the wiring you could use our part # 10-1-1 that is sold by the foot.
