Can B&W Companion Slider For Ford F-250 Prep Package Tow in Slide Position

Question:

Slider for 2021 Ford F-250. Just wondering if I could drive with it in the 12” position? I have a 6.5 bed. BWRVB3370

It cannot; here is what B&W states regarding using the Companion in the slide position (which they call the "maneuvering" position): "The maneuvering position is only intended for parking maneuvers and not for towing. Using the slider in any other capacity could result serious injury or death." This is actually true of all sliding hitches, as none of them can be used in the slide position.

I also wanted to mention, just in the interest of being thorough, that the part you mentioned for your 2021 Ford F-250 with the prep package is the Replacement Slider Base for B&W OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Ford Towing Prep Package # BWRVB3370. That's just the base if you were looking to go from a fixed hitch.

So if you need the whole 5th wheel hitch for your F-250, the correct part is the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3370.
