Question:
will this fit a 2022 subaru outback factory hitch 2 inch or should i install an after market hitch

You are absolutely right that the factory hitches on some Subarus are not compatible with Thule racks. In order for the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV to fit your factory 2" hitch on your 2022 Subaru Outback, the center of the hitch's pinhole must be at least 1.125" from the face of the hitch in order to accommodate 2 bikes. I recommend measuring the location of your pinhole to make sure you have enough length. I went ahead and attached a diagram that shows how to conduct this measurement.
If you are set on using the # TH83JV and you do not have the minimum length, you need an aftermarket hitch. For a great hitch, I recommend the Curt Hitch # C67JR for a few reasons. First off, you do not have to worry about bumper clearance issues with the # TH83JV. Since the hitch pinhole installs only 3 inches from the rear bumper, the T2 Pro XTR won't interfere with the bumper when folded up. Also, in addition to providing you with a sleek, hidden look, the hitch has a much easier installation process than competitor hidden hitches. With the location of the pinhole on the Curt hitch, it is compatible with the T2 Pro XTR.
