Question:
Hi, I have a 2015 Subaru Outback 2.5L, and I want. a trailer hitch to match a Yakima Onramp bike rack. I'll have 2 55-pound e-bikes on it, so would like your advice on a class 2 or class 3 hitch. Also, want to be sure it allows the rack to fold. to vertical position without hitting the bumper. What do you recommend? Also, any accessories that would be useful are welcome.

For a wider range of compatibility of accessories and greater overall stability, I recommend going with a 2" Class III hitch on your 2015 Subaru Outback. If you want a hitch with an easier installation, I recommend Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13206. However, with this hitch, there is a visible crosstube that some people find bulky. If you want a hitch that involves a more difficult installation but has a completely concealed crosstube that gives you more of a factory look on your vehicle, I recommend using the Curt Hitch - 2" # C13410. Both of these hitches provide you with the weight capacity you need as well as enough bumper clearance to use the Yakima OnRamp Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches # Y36FR (both folded and extended) and your bikes.
As far as extra accessories, if you have fat-tire bikes with tires that measure 26 x 4.5", 27.5" x 4.5" and 29 x 3.25", you need the fat tire straps # Y23FR for each of those bikes. Also, for extra security of the rack, I always recommend using the hitch lock # Y07235 to protect the rack from theft. Since the cradles of the OnRamp adjust independently along the central mast, you do not need to use a bike frame adapter bar if you happen to have women's bikes, step-thru bikes, or children's bikes.
