I have a 1993 pony horse trailer with 205 90 D15 tires on it, will a 205 70 15 8 ply tire work?

Yes, the trailer tire size 205/75-15 like the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D
Item # TR20515D would replace the size you have now which is most likely a vehicle tire size. It would be a little bit shorter in height but not enough to make a large difference.
