What Yakima HD Crossbars Will Fit My 2000 Toyota Tundra

Question:

Im researching what size Yakima HD crossbars to get for my 2000 Toyota Tundra. My bed width measures 68 but the verify fit feature on your website says that I need 78 bars. I assume thats for overhang, but will the 68 bars for sure not fit or just not ideal?

I double checked the Yakima website. They also say you will need the 78" crossbars for your 2000 Toyota Tundra. I also checked Thule's ladder racks and their crossbar is 71" long. Keep in mind that the difference between the two setups is the Yakima crossbars will extend 3" further than the Thule crossbars on each side. I think the 68" crossbars come up just a bit short.

If you do not need a ladder rack, the Yakima BedRock HD Truck Bed Rack - Aluminum - 300 lbs - 78" Crossbars, part # Y01160-59, is a good option. It is a simple, no drill installation. It comes with Yakima's HD crossbars and it has a weight limit of 300 lbs.
