Review of the Yakima BedRock HD Truck Bed Cargo Rack

Hey, today we're going to be checking out the Yakima Bedrock HD tower truck bed rack system. You can see we've already got it in place here. Basically, it's very similar to a roof rack except for that we can mount it to our truck bed rails. I've got a bike rack with a bike installed and a surfboard mounted to it, but you're going to be able to carry ski racks, kayak racks, cargo boxes, cargo baskets. There's even a Yakima sky rise tent that can be mounted to these HD bars allowing us to have tent access above our truck bed.Now it mounts to the top of our truck bed rails. It doesn't sit up too high though.

It sits up about three inches, allowing us more than enough room to carry gear in our bed. You can see I've got a few things here and I don't have to worry about it coming in contact with the underside of the bar. So again, more than enough room. Now this system is not fixed. It can be adjusted anywhere along our truck bed side rails we want, just as long as there's nothing blocking them from clamping to the underside of the rail. They do include a lock, that way you can prevent anyone from taking them off, but once the unlocked, you'll need to lift up on the handle.

From there, you'll need to loosen up the Allen bolt on bottom. Now if you're just looking to adjust it, you can loosen it up a little bit and then guide it front or backward. If you're looking to take it off completely with this type of truck bed you'll need to completely remove the bolt. With others you may not need to completely remove it. As you can see it's a long bolt that we'll need to take out the foot and then we can take out the clamp completely.

From there it can be completely removed. When it's clamped down, it's going to push out this rubber seal and prevent any moisture or water getting underneath, so will give you a nice clean look. Now the system will also work with a builtin cargo management track system. The kit includes these extensions that allows the plate or foot to clamp underneath that track. It's going to give you just as much of a tight fit. Here at the end, we actually have a built in tie down point or anchor, that way we can run our straps up through or attach a bungee cord to secure our gear. But that's going to complete our look at the Yakima Bedrock HD tower truck bed rail rack system.
