Question:
We own an RV with the 1998 Series 28 step. Everything works fine mechanically. We recently replaced the wiring harness with a new Kwikee wiring harness and switch from etrailer. The problem Im having is getting the steps to stay out when the door is opened. They work fine with the off/on switch, and power up as they should. But, after installing the new magnetic switch in the door, the steps open on door closure, and close when the door is opened with the magnetic switch. I checked the wiring, and everything appears wired correctly. Is there a different magnetic switch for the 28 Series?

Expert Reply:
There are two different magnet door switches for Kwikee steps that will depend on when Kwikee 28 Series was manufactured. If was 2006 or after, you'd use # LC374198 or if it was 2005 or earlier, use # LC369299. I'm assuming you either got the # LC374198 or the # LC301694 which is why the steps are working in the reverse order. You'll want to get the # LC369299 since your steps were manufactured in 1998.
