Solution for Lippert 27 Series Steps That work In Reverse

Updated 10/11/2024 | Published 10/10/2024

Question:

I have replaced my old steps with the LC375632. This is on a 2013 Tiffin Phaeton. They are an exact replacement. When They were plugged in they worked the opposite of how they should. In when the door opened out when closed. Switching polarity on the wires corrected this but there is a switch on the RV that causes the steps to stay out when the door is closed. It is working the opposite and the steps stay in all the time. Is there a wiring diagram that will allow me to troubleshoot and correct this?

Bruce, this is fairly common, and the issue is usually with motorhomes that are wired to work with a normally open circuit and the steps being meant for a closed circuit.

To fix the issue, you'll just need to use the Replacement Door Switch for Lippert Electric Coach Step # LC301694.

Thanks Bryce, My RV uses a Plunger style door sensor switch. I see Part Number: LC379407 but it appears to be a normally open switch and I believe I need normally closed. (closed door, closed circuit) Do you have one of these available?

@BruceB We do, so you'd need the Replacement Plunger Door Sensor with Striker Plates for Kwikee Electric RV Steps # LC379388.
