Question:
I want to install this redarc brake controller on my 2022 Ascent. I have a hitch I was using for a bike rack but right now I don't have any wiring or anything for lights and stuff. I know for sure that I don't have the tow package either. What all needs to be added to get this up and running for me?

In order to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR on your 2022 Subaru Ascent you will need to start with a wiring harness. Luckily for you the Ascent has a 7-way option that does not require the installation of a 4-way first. For this, you will want the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118290.
This wiring harness will plug into the connection point behind the rear interior trim panel. Once installed, you will have a 7-way at the back to power signal lights and your trailer brakes. The only other thing you will need is the # RED44FR brake controller itself. Since you do not have the factory tow package, this will need to be hard wired in.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.
