Question:

In regards to the TA55VR 16 x 6 trailer wheel, what is the maximum allowable tire pressure 80psi, 95psi, 110psi? In essence, I need to know if this wheel is limited to Load Range E tires, or could I use LR F or LR G tires?

I went ahead and reached out to my contact at Taskmaster Tires. She confirmed that for the Steel Modular Wheel # TA55VR, load range E, F and G fits if the aspect ratio of the tire is 80 or smaller. For example, the tire size 235/80R16. If the aspect of the tire is 85 or bigger, load range E is the only tire that will fit. An example of that size tire is the Kenda Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire with 16" Black Mod Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - LR E # AM32743B.

As far as the air pressure for the tires, the pressure is typically dictated by the valve stem and not the wheel itself. If you are wishing to go with a higher load range (which will have a higher max PSI), you may need to replace the valve stem with a higher pressure metallic one. For example, the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem - 1-1/4" Long # AM20906 is rated for over 100 psi.
